Usage Note

Drainage in medicine refers to a tube or device inserted to remove fluid, pus, or blood from a wound or body cavity. It is commonly placed after surgery or to treat abscesses (Abszesse). The tube is called Drainageschlauch and is removed once fluid output decreases.
