Usage Note
Grundwert is the whole amount (100%) in a percentage calculation: Prozentwert = Grundwert × Prozentsatz / 100. It is a core term in German school maths.
Examples
"Der Grundwert beträgt 200 Euro, der Prozentsatz 15 Prozent."
Natural Translation
The base value is 200 euros, the percentage rate 15 per cent.
Literal Translation
The base-value amounts to 200 Euro, the percentage-rate 15 percent.
