Usage Note
Verdacht is the reasonable suspicion that someone has committed a crime. It is mostly singular. Common collocations are Verdacht schoepfen (to grow suspicious), unter Verdacht stehen (to be under suspicion), and dringender Verdacht (strong suspicion), the threshold for an arrest.
