Beihilfe has two main uses: as a welfare or subsidy payment (e.g. staatliche Beihilfe — state aid), and in criminal law as a secondary form of participation in an offence (Beihilfe zur Tat). For civil servants it also specifically means the employer's partial reimbursement of medical expenses.
