Usage Note
Dach takes an umlaut in the plural, Dächer, and the ch is the hard 'ach' sound. It appears in ein Dach über dem Kopf haben ('to have a roof over one's head') and unter einem Dach ('under one roof'). The roof slope is a Dachschräge.
