Usage Note

Intubation is the insertion of a tube into the trachea (Luftröhre) to maintain an open airway, typically performed before general anaesthesia or in emergency situations. The procedure is performed by anaesthetists (Anästhesisten) using a laryngoscope. Extubation is the removal of the tube.
