Usage Note
Krücke is a walking aid used when a leg or foot injury prevents normal walking. The standard type in Germany is the Unterarmgehstütze (forearm crutch) rather than the axillary (armpit) crutch. The plural Krücken is more common since they are usually used in pairs. Figuratively eine alte Krücke means a useless person or thing.
