Usage Note
Lama (Lama glama) is larger than an alpaca and is occasionally kept on German farms as a guard animal (Wächter) for sheep flocks, as it naturally repels foxes. Confused with Buddhist Lama in spelling — the animal uses one 'l'.
Examples
"Ein Lama bewacht hier die Schafherde vor Fuchs und Marder."
Natural Translation
A llama here guards the sheep flock from fox and marten.
Literal Translation
A llama guards here the sheep-flock from fox and marten.
