Maklerprovision

estate agent's commission, letting fee

noun MAH-kler-pro-vi-zi-on Rare

Usage Note

Maklerprovision is the fee paid to a Makler (estate agent) for finding a tenant or buyer. Since 2015 the 'Bestellerprinzip' in Germany means the party who commissions the agent (Besteller) pays the fee — in rentals this is usually the landlord, not the tenant.

Examples

"Durch das Bestellerprinzip entfällt die Maklerprovision für Mieter bei Neuvermietungen."

Natural Translation

Due to the commissioning principle, the estate agent's commission no longer applies to tenants for new lettings.

Literal Translation

Through the commissioning-principle is omitted the agent-commission for tenants with new-lettings.
