Schulpflicht is the legal obligation for children to attend school, which in Germany lasts for nine years of full-time schooling. It is governed at state (Bundesland) level. Home schooling (Homeschooling) is not recognised as fulfilling Schulpflicht in Germany — a notable difference from many other countries.
