Usage Note
Tafel most often means the classroom blackboard or whiteboard, but it also means a 'bar' (of chocolate, eine Tafel Schokolade) and a formal banquet table. In school the teacher writes an die Tafel (on the board). The verb vortafeln is not standard; use an die Tafel schreiben.
