Usage Note

Wels (Silurus glanis) is the wels catfish, Europe's largest freshwater fish, able to exceed 2 m and 100 kg. It is found in large German rivers and warm lakes. Urban legends about giant wels eating waterfowl or even small pets circulate regularly.
