Usage Note

Zeitraffer is the opposite of Zeitlupe: events are compressed, so things appear faster than normal. Common in nature documentaries showing flowers blooming or clouds moving; also used figuratively for very swift development: im Zeitraffer zur Weltmacht aufgestiegen.
