Usage Note

Zeitstrafe is a penalty in which a player must leave the field or court for a set number of minutes, used in ice hockey, handball, and rugby. Eine Zeitstrafe absitzen (to serve a time penalty) temporarily reduces the team. Distinct from a Gelbe Karte (yellow card) in football.
