Ausgemergelt describes a body wasted to extreme thinness through starvation, illness, or exhaustion. Ausgemergelte Körper (emaciated bodies), ausgemergeltes Gesicht. The word evokes complete depletion of flesh and strength; stronger and more vivid than abgemagert (underweight).
