Usage Note

entfernt describes something far away in space, and also figuratively distant relations, as in entfernte Verwandte (distant relatives). As an adverb it can soften a comparison: nicht im Entferntesten means 'not in the slightest'. It is the past participle of entfernen, 'to remove'.
