Usage Note
entscheiden is usually reflexive when a person makes up their mind: sich für etwas entscheiden ('to decide on/in favour of something'). Without the reflexive it means a thing 'decides' or settles a matter, as a deciding goal does.
Examples
"Du musst dich jetzt entscheiden."
Natural Translation
You have to decide now.
Literal Translation
You must yourself now decide.
