Usage Note

entweder almost always pairs with oder in the fixed correlative entweder ... oder ... ('either ... or ...'). The word order after it is flexible, but the two options must be parallel. Unlike English, it never stands alone meaning 'either of two'.

"Entweder wir gehen oder wir bleiben."

Natural Translation

Either we go or we stay.

Literal Translation

Either we go or we stay.
