Usage Note

Sich herausreden (reflexive) means to extricate oneself from a difficult situation by talking. Er redete sich heraus, indem er die Schuld auf andere schob — he talked his way out by blaming others. Slightly colloquial, with a negative connotation of evasion.

"Dieses Mal wird er sich nicht so einfach herausreden können."

Natural Translation

This time he won't be able to talk his way out so easily.

Literal Translation

This time will he himself not so simply out-talk can.
