Usage Note
jahrein is only used in the fixed expression jahrein, jahraus (year in, year out), emphasising unceasing repetition over years. It never appears in isolation. Learners at B2 encounter it in journalistic and literary texts conveying monotony or permanence.

Natural Translation
Year in, year out he takes the same route to work.
Literal Translation
Year-in, year-out makes he the same way to work.
