seitdem

since then

adverb zyt-DAYM Common

Also means

since

Usage Note

seitdem works two ways: as an adverb it means 'since then', and as a subordinating conjunction it means 'ever since' and sends the verb to the end of the clause. Don't confuse it with the preposition seit, which takes a noun, not a clause.

Examples

"Seitdem habe ich ihn nicht gesehen."

Natural Translation

I haven't seen him since then.

Literal Translation

Since-then have I him not seen.
