Usage Note

und is the basic coordinating conjunction and, unlike a subordinating one, it does NOT send the verb to the end — the clause after it keeps normal word order. It also forms the fixed pair und so weiter ('and so on', abbreviated usw.) and the question opener Na und? ('So what?').
