Also means
flaccid, limp
Usage Note
welk describes plants that have lost turgidity and begun to droop — welke Blumen, welkes Gemüse. Applied to skin it suggests slackness: welke Haut. It is gentler than verdorrt (dried up); the plant is wilting, not yet dead.
Examples
"Die welken Blumen musste sie endlich wegwerfen."
Natural Translation
She finally had to throw away the wilted flowers.
Literal Translation
The wilted flowers had she finally to throw-away.
