Usage Note
Bundestagsabgeordnete (MdB) is an elected member of the German federal parliament. Members enjoy a freies Mandat (free mandate), meaning they are only bound by their conscience and not by party instructions. Each receives a mandate allowance (Diäten) and a range of official privileges.
