Usage Note
Erbsensuppe is traditionally a thick, slow-simmered soup made from dried split peas (Schälerbsen), carrots, celeriac, and smoked pork. It is closely associated with the German military tradition (Bundeswehr-Erbsensuppe) and also with Berlin street food, where it is sold from Gulaschkanone field kitchens.
