Usage Note
Fairness is an anglicism fully integrated into German. It denotes impartial, equitable conduct in sport, business, and social life. Faire Chancen (fair chances) and faires Verhalten (fair behaviour) are stock phrases; the word has no single German equivalent that carries all these connotations.
