Usage Note

Gegenpresse describes media outlets or publications explicitly founded to challenge the editorial line of dominant newspapers. The term carries a slightly polemical flavour and is often used in discussions of media pluralism (Medienpluralismus). Do not confuse with the football tactic of the same name.
