Usage Note

Gerichtsbeschluss is one of the two main types of court decisions in German procedure — while an Urteil is issued after oral proceedings, a Beschluss is typically issued without a hearing, often in procedural matters, bail decisions, or preliminary injunctions. It must state reasons and can usually be appealed by Beschwerde.
