Usage Note
Hefeflocken are deactivated yeast flakes with a nutty, cheese-like umami flavour. They are popular in vegetarian and vegan German cooking as a cheese substitute in sauces, on pasta, and in vegan Käsesaucen; they are also used as a condiment on salads.
