Also means
dominion
Usage Note
Herrschaft means 'rule, reign, dominion' (unter römischer Herrschaft). The plural Herrschaften is a slightly formal or ironic way to address a group, as in meine Herrschaften! ('ladies and gentlemen!'). It builds on Herr ('master, gentleman').
