Usage Note

Jasmin refers both to the true jasmines (Jasminum ssp.) with intensely fragrant white or yellow flowers, and colloquially to Falschen Jasmin (Philadelphus — mock orange), widely grown in German gardens. Jasminöl and Jasminduft (jasmine scent) appear frequently in perfume and cosmetic contexts.
