Usage Note
Wahlbeteiligung combines Wahl (election) and Beteiligung (participation) and names the share of eligible voters who actually vote. It is feminine and usually appears in the singular, often with a percentage: eine hohe Wahlbeteiligung. Journalists cite it as a measure of democratic engagement.
