wise saying, maxim
Usage Note
Weisheit denotes deep, experience-based understanding and sound judgement. In the plural Weisheiten, it often refers to wise sayings or (ironically) empty platitudes. Distinct from Klugheit (cleverness), which is more about intellectual sharpness.
Examples
"Mit dem Alter kommt oft eine tiefe Weisheit, die man nicht lernen kann."
Natural Translation
With age there often comes a deep wisdom that cannot be learned.
