Usage Note

Wermut is both the wormwood plant and the fortified wine aromatised with it. As a drink it appears in cocktails such as Martini and Negroni. Sweet Italian (roter Wermut) and dry French (weißer Wermut) styles both appear in German bars. Plural: Wermute (rare; usually uncountable).
