Usage Note

entlangfahren means to travel by vehicle along the length of something — a river, a coastline, or a street: die Küste entlangfahren (drive along the coast). The entlang prefix always follows the direct object in accusative in modern usage.

Natural Translation

We drove slowly along the promenade and enjoyed the view.

Literal Translation

We drove slowly the promenade along and enjoyed the view.
