Usage Note
entlang is unusual: when it follows its noun it takes the accusative (den Fluss entlang), but when it precedes it takes the dative or genitive (entlang dem Fluss). The post-positioned accusative form is by far the most common in speech.
Examples
"Wir gehen die Straße entlang."
Natural Translation
We walk along the street.

We go the street along.
