Usage Note
Grundbuchamt is the section of the local court (Amtsgericht) responsible for maintaining the Grundbuch (land register). All property ownership, mortgages and encumbrances on real estate are recorded there. A purchase of property is only legally effective once entered (eingetragen) at the Grundbuchamt.
