Usage Note

Guthaben is a positive account balance or prepaid credit, the opposite of Schulden. Common on phone cards (Guthaben aufladen). It is neuter with an unchanged plural.

Examples

"Mein Guthaben auf dem Konto beträgt fünfzig Euro."

Natural Translation

My balance in the account is fifty euros.

Literal Translation

My credit on the account amounts fifty euros.
