Holzschraube

wood screw

noun HOLTS-shrow-beh Rare

Usage Note

Holzschraube has a coarser thread and tapered tip than a machine screw, designed to bite into wood fibres; modern Spanplattenschrauben (chipboard screws) have largely replaced the traditional partially-threaded pattern.

Examples

Natural Translation

Self-tapping wood screws were used for the timber joint.

Literal Translation

For the timber-connection were self-cutting wood-screws used.
