Usage Note

Jäger is a licensed hunter who hunts game (Wild) under strict German hunting law (Jagdgesetz). Not to be confused with Wilderer (poacher). Also used in military rank (Jäger = private in light infantry). Feminine: Jägerin. Plural unchanged.
