Usage Note
einnähen means to alter a garment by sewing it narrower (die Hose einnähen = take in the trousers); also means to sew something in (e.g. a label or lining). Common at a Schneiderei (tailor's shop) when clothes no longer fit.

Natural Translation
The dress was too big; she had it taken in by the tailor.
Literal Translation
The dress was too wide; she let it at-the tailor sew-in.
