fühlen

feel

verb FÜ-len Common

Usage Note

fühlen is most often reflexive for emotions or states: sich wohlfühlen means 'to feel comfortable'. Without the reflexive it describes feeling something physically, like den Puls fühlen ('to feel the pulse'). For opinions, Germans prefer finden over fühlen.

Examples

"Ich fühle mich heute gut."

Natural Translation

I feel good today.

Literal Translation

I feel myself today good.
