Usage Note

Mitsamt governs the dative and emphasises that everything (or all parts) are included: mitsamt dem Gepäck. It is stronger than mit alone and often implies completeness or totality. More formal and less common than zusammen mit.

"Er zog mitsamt seiner Familie in die neue Stadt."

Natural Translation

He moved to the new city together with his entire family.

Literal Translation

He moved together-with his family into the new city.
